What is listed

Calls for papers, proposals and speakers at conferences about data, AI and machine learning, databases, cloud and Kubernetes, DevOps and platform engineering, security, open source and general software development. Pay-to-present academic events, webinars and meetups are left out.

Where the calls come from

• The organizers' own call pages, and their Sessionize, PaperCall or pretalx pages. Every call links to the page its deadline was read from.
• confs.tech: the open conference list at github.com/tech-conferences/conference-data, read every week. Calls found there are marked Unverified until someone opens the call page.
• Events (events.fru.dev): each call links to its conference's page on Events when Events has it.
• A weekly search: two web searches a week find pages that mention a new call; a language model (Gemini, no web access) reads only the pages fetched and returns the calls in them. A call is kept only if the page states its deadline in words the model quotes back; it is published Unverified.

How deadlines stay right

Every Wednesday at 12:15 UTC the refresh re-reads the deadline on each open call hosted on Sessionize and applies a moved deadline straight away. A feed that disagrees with a call a person has checked is held for review instead of applied. A call whose deadline passes is marked closed and stays on the site.

History

Every change is logged and never edited: new calls, moved deadlines, changed event dates or places, calls checked by hand, calls that closed. See Changes, or the JSON at /api/changes?since=.

Deadlines and time zones

A deadline is the date the call states. Where it gives a time and zone (for example 11:59 PM UTC-04:00), that is shown next to it. A call counts as open through its deadline day.

Speaker support

Travel, hotel, a free ticket or an honorarium are shown only when the call says so. "Not stated" means the call page does not say, not that there is none.

Across fru.dev

Organizers use the shared company slugs of companies.fru.dev, which reads this site's /api/companies to add organizers and their deadlines to its timeline.
